This sculpted group, named The triumph Of Silenus, is an artwork of Jules Dalou, one of the most iconic french sculptor of the 19th century. In this bacchanal scene, you can see Silenus, greek divinity, adoptive father of dionysos, drunk on a struggling donkey. The characters below, including a maenad, are desperately trying to carry Silenus ! The sculptor did not want his artwork to be exhibited in a museum, so it has been installed in the Luxembourg Gardens, in Paris, since 1897.
