The sculpture “La Pieta” by Michelangelo Buenarroti is one of the world’s most famous pieces of art, depicting a tableau of faith and grief - the wounded body of Jesus Christ cradled in the loving arms of the Virgin Mary. It is a striking reminder of the enormous sacrifice that both the Mother and the Son voluntarily made for man’s redemption.
This sculpture is located in Lucban, Quezon (Philippines) inside the “Kamay ni Hesus” (Hand of Jesus) Shrine. It’s a replica of the original piece of art, made from Carrara marble, located inside the St. Peter’s Basilica, in Vatican City.
