Panthéon pediment, Paris.

The pediment of the Panthéon. First commandited by Louis XV and thought to become a religious place, the building went through different political tendancies. The building was not even finished when the french révolution occured, with the idea to create a homeland’ temple rather than a church. Empires and monarchy returns also have brought important changes to the pediment, between christian representations and republican views.

The pediment has been changed 4 times in 50 years of french history !

The last has been there since 1837 and was created by David d’Angers.
